Nicomochean Ethics. Facultéès Arts. Happiness. FirstGood. XIIIthcentury.Abstract
Till the entry of Aristotle’s Nicomochean Ethics, only Abelard had written a philosophical study about ethics in Western PhIlosophy. A new context has been arosen with the entry – translations and comments – of the Aristotelian text.Thetraduction has been realized in one way, finishing the whole text, bur in parts, till Grosseteste’s translation of the whole book. But before the work was finished different commentaries has been composed by masters of the Facultéès Arts. But what about the orientation and basic character of these commentaries? It becomes clear that they reveal a very strong platonic-agostinian character. A change occurs with the commentaries, baptized as “averroists”, about a quarter of century later.
