Truth, wisdom and happiness in Augustine of Hippo

In the theory of knowledge of Augustine of Hippo, we find three central concepts which they are always linked with each other, which are truth, wisdom and happiness. Firstly, happiness for Augustine is the purpose for philosophizing, and the attainment of that happiness takes place in the possession of wisdom, which consists in discovering the truth. Then, which develops the entire Augustinian argumentation around knowledge. In this article we will seek to understand these concepts in the works of Augustine's youth, after the conversion period until the presbyterate in Hippo, seeking to understand the development of his theory of truth. For this, we will use the method of structural analysis in this problem of truth in Augustine, seeking to develop this question within the logic of the Hyponense's thought, analyzing their dialogues and their developments, the gradations and the hierarchical order that he establishes, for then we understand the body that supports his comprehension of the truth. Thus, our work will have three moments, first we will analyze the debate with academics about the possibility of knowing the truth; Secondly, the relationship of truth with wisdom and happiness, and then, in a third moment, we will understand the truth as the foundation for the correct judgment of rationality. Thus, we will conclude that in Augustinian architecture, the concept of truth has joined to that of wisdom, and it is in accessing these two ideas that is possible being happy.
