The article attempts to analyze the discussions and the usage of the term charisma during the Vatican Council II in its most significant assemblies on the theme, in order to understand better the ecclesiological role of the charisms that should be put on evidence by the Council works and the posterior theology, concentrating specially on the discussion about the charisms as either exceptional or common gifts and on the analysis of two major Council texts in these domain: LG 12b e AA 3c.
