Recepção pastoral da Eclesiologia do Vaticano II na Diocese de Sobral
Abstract
Até 1959 a Igreja de Sobral era regida pela batuta de Dom José Tupinambá da Frota, que gerou na diocese uma Igreja com feições Tridentinas e Romanas. Era uma igreja clerical, autoritária, sacramentalista e muito marcada pelo devocionismo. Com a morte de D. José (1959) e a chegada de D. Mota (1960) as coisas vão tomar novo rumo. Chuvas benéficas e trazidas por ventos de várias direções vinham caindo na Igreja do Ceará; e a partir de 1960 vão atingir a nossa diocese, preparando o terreno para a chegada da eclesiologia do Vaticano II.
