O contexto histórico da criação da Diocese do Ceará
Abstract
Por decreto do Imperador Pedro II é criada a Diocese do Ceará, precisamente no ano de 1853. Seguindo-se o habitual procedimento, o Papa Pio IX expediu a Bula Pro Animarum Salute, em 6 de junho de 1854, criando a Diocese com a jurisdição da Igreja. Aquela Bula só seria oficializada em 1860, após período de contenda entre o Vaticano e o Estado brasileiro. E a Diocese em questão desmembrada da de Olinda.
