Synodality and the imperative “that Auschwitz no longer repeats itself”
Keywords:
Synodality. Pope Francis. Holocaust. Adorno.Abstract
The following article intends to make a parallel between the principle of synodality proposed by Pope Francis as an ecclesial way and the pedagogical imperative of the philosopher of the School of Frankfurt Theodor Adorno that the holocaust not happen again. In order to do so, it is showed a synthesis between the Conference given by the philosopher in 1966 in which he exposed such principle and the many papal documents from the institution of the Synod of the Bishops by pope Paul VI. It will be put in evidence the dangers and challenges that Adorno presented as seeds of barbarity, consequence of the contemporary way of being, individually as well as socially, so that are prevented in contemporary societies, particularly in the Church to fully walk in synodality. The synodal way, from the synthesis with Adorno, appears to be even more necessary and relevant than it seemed to be at a first glance, as it passes through the ecclesial boundaries, welcoming a mission of true liberation to all civilization, mainly the Western one, starting from the traumatizing experience of the Holocaust.
