The Jones Myth: a pragmatic alternative to the concept of internal episodes

The present paper has the task of presenting the discussions in philosophy of mind proposed by the North American philosopher Wilfrid Sellars (1912-1989), the text will not present a compendium on the most general problems on philosophy of mind, only Sellars' problems will be approached , those problems that derive directly from the conceptions and positions of his philosophy, above all the theoretical compromises generated by his criticism of the Myth of the Given. An attempt will be made to explain how Sellars answers the following questions: What are inner episodes? How to explain the existence of such episodes without following the qualia? And finally what are thoughts? Sellars seeks to demonstrate how it is possible to admit that the concepts belonging to the inner episodes are essentially intersubjective, although they are not translated into public verbal behaviors. Furthermore, he intends to demonstrate that privileged access to these episodes is a dimension of these concepts that sustain intersubjectivity and that the privacy of these episodes is not absolute.
