Abstract

In different cultures, children were not valued and this view influenced even the people of Israel. This work deals with the treatment of children in the Bible, aiming to highlight their importance and provide elements for the current education of children to be carried out according to what the Holy Book prescribes and according to the guidelines of the church. The results of this study reveal that God, intending to reveal himself as the God of life, intervened in different situations so that children's lives were valued. And Jesus, with His love and example, elevated the position of children before society and placed them on an equal footing with other human beings, extolling their importance. With that, he took a new look at children, emphasizing their importance and the value of Christian education in the home. It is concluded that the attention given by the Bible to children brought important changes for the treatment of them in the socio-educational context, providing a new perspective in their education and care.
