This article aims to provoke reflection on the need to overcome the design comprising the teaching of history as an activity that comes down and is justified by the repetition of information about a dead and unchanging past. Starting with an overview of the main currents that guide the training of teachers, try to understand what is between the lines of speeches purposely spread a sense emptying a discipline that is essential for the individual to develop their sense of belonging to their time and their space and recognize their strength as an agent who must decide the movements of rupture and continuity in the history of which it is part. The last section suggests procedures that seek to facilitate the construction of historical knowledge in students, even in basic education, because they understand that it is at this stage that the teacher is a field where you sow ideas, eager to reap a more knowledgeable society itself.
