Abstract

The phenomenological attitude is based on Edmund Husserl's (1859-1938) maxim, which is considered essential for knowledge, namely, “returning to the things themselves”, given the intentionality of consciousness. This constitutes the phenomenological method designed by him, which demands the crucial suspension of what he calls the natural attitude. The phenomenological attitude demands that presuppositions be suspended, leaving the empirical field, which positions objects in space and time, with
the purpose of allowing the life of consciousness itself to emerge in its immanent dynamics. It is necessary, however, to allow the field to emerge without theorizing and determining what presents itself to consciousness. However, theorizing about man becomes unfeasible. This modus operandi led to the robust radicalizing project of Martin Heidegger (1889-1976). In short, our objective in this study is to trace the way in which Husserl elaborates intentionality, without failing to explain how the Heideggerian development took place.
